Kickstarter campaigns certainly are all the rage these days. The latest artist to use the service to fund their next project is Starflyer 59. The new recording will be Starflyer's first digital-only release as well--that is, no CD's will be produced for it--with the only exception being a limited run of vinyl. Check out the announcement below and visit their Kickstarter page to support the band...
"Starflyer 59 has been around for just about 20 years. For the first time ever, we'd like to produce and release a full length completely on our own (with your help, that is).
We're grateful to the label we called home for the last two decades, and especially to Brandon for all of his support. Couldn't have done this without him so far... But we're excited to give this a shot on our own to see how it goes.
That said, we still want to make a self-produced record that sounds legit, which always requires funds. We'll need to rent studio time and special gear, and hopefully hire out some of the same folks who have helped us mix and master our records in the past if we raise enough. We want to have real artwork done by a pro artist and put the thing out on vinyl and digital only; no CDs ... If you're gonna have physical media these days, it should be vinyl, right?
We hope there are some things on this list that are worth your pledge... We're excited to get to work on this and make the best record we can. Thanks for listening for all of these years and thanks for giving this a shot."
